Mahal Kong Ina

Today is February 19, 2009.

Thank you for loving me in spite of all my imperfections.
Thank you for supporting me in any of my good endeavors.
Thank you for the words of wisdom you never fail to give every day, every moment.
Thank you for the times we argued because I'm too arrogant.
Thank you for the times you first said sorry because I'm too insolent.
Thank you for the patience to correct me all the time.
Thank you for sometimes tolerating my luxury.
Thank you for making me realize my senseless extravagance.
Thank you for sharing with me your life.
Thank you for letting me know what my limitations and capabilities are.
Thank you for teaching me to hold on.
Thank you for keeping me grounded in faith.
Thank you for if not by you I wouldn't find the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Thank you for my daily allowance and for the extras.
Thank you for the fancy clothes I never asked for.
Thank you for the constant supply of inspiration to finish well in every thing.
Thank you because you chose not to give up a long time ago.
Thank you because your hug means a lot.

I know, you just couldn't stop being a mother.

Happy Birthday to my Nanay.

My endeavor to make Banana Chips

My first attempt to make banana chips L-)

Soaking of bananas to sugar syrup prior to 2nd frying

The first frying @280F, 5min

Is this a cavendish?

My inspiration (haha) and where I also got the procedure for my BC pictured above:

EFFECT OF THE STAGE OF MATURITY AND TIME-TEMPERATURE FRYING CONDITIONS ON THE QUALITY OF BANANA CHIPS (CAVENDISH VARIETY). Maria Theresa M. Pena. U of the Philippines at Diliman, 1982. Quezon City, Philippines. 107 p. (Unpublished BS Thesis).

The possibility is: Improvement and standardization of Banana Chip making :)
---> which, as advised, may not be very relevant for BC industries who are already exporting.

I chose the Cavendish banana! It is usually bland in taste and is mainly produced in Mindanao (look at the label, it says there "DAVAO"! :D). This type easily goes off that's why in most areas bulk of bananas goes to waste. And making these type into chips saves the day, spares wastage, provides income especially for the low-income groups.

I'm still looking into the process flow of BC making and getting familiar with it. At present, I'm contacting a not-so-bigtime exporting manufacturer based in Cavite. Yahoo! Go Marnie!! :0

Happy Birthday Marnelle Reyes

Hi dear friends! I just turned 22 last 0107! Yahu! I was sick that day and the day before that! Im not sure if it was because I ate Razon's halo-halo (Delicioso!) or because of the cold weather. Anyway, it was a very simple celebration. We did not really cook anything special or invited friends/family over to feast! Thankfully my sister went home that night and bought me a cake and 2 dozens of KK doughnuts! Well, it was at least memorable because it was my first birthday I wore purple nail polish courtesy of the very kind Ate Rose. It was indeed my very first time that my fingernails experienced colors. That's Jose Miguel (Miggy) on the right, by the way.

But wait, there's more!!!
A small fellowship was organized by a few friends from CLYM on the 11th of January for me and Louie who was celebrating his birthday that day! It was held at the Canilao's residence. Thanks to Mami Angelina, Lola and Asst. chefs for the delicioussss snax! Thanks CLYM for the small-time partey! :D
